Biography
Dr. Hooman Bakhshi has recently joined Carient after completing a comprehensive two-year structural and interventional cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins hospital. His expertise lies in minimally invasive approaches (non-surgical) to treat a wide range of structural heart diseases by utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and the latest technology to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. Dr. Bakhshi is highly trained in advanced transcatheter treatments for aortic and mitral valve diseases as well as percutaneous coronary artery interventions. Additionally, he offers transcatheter closure of the left atrial appendage for patients with atrial fibrillation when clinically indicated.
Dr. Bakhshi has also been participating in clinical research as a lead researcher. His research is mainly focused on using novel biomarkers including proteomics to risk stratify populations at risk for developing cardiovascular disease and also investigating the accuracy of ultra high-resolution cardiac CT scanning to detect hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease. He is currently the director of the QFR lab at Johns Hopkins Hospital for the CORE-PRECISION study, which is an international, multicenter, prospective study, testing the non-inferiority of ultra-high resolution-CT compared to invasive coronary angiography for identifying patients with hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease. Dr. Bakshi’s full list of publications is available on Google Scholar: Hooman Bakhshi - Google Scholar
As a dedicated council member and fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), he has been participating in advocacy efforts to advance the field of interventional cardiology. These opportunities have provided him with a platform to advocate for improved patient care.
Dr. Bakhshi’s philosophy of patient care is to treat all patients as if they are his family members. He places great importance on a collaborative decision-making process that includes both medical professionals and the patient themselves together with their families. At the personal level, he has been happily married for more than twenty years to his wife, who is also a physician. Together with their daughter and son, they love traveling and exploring the world.
